UP AND COMING EVENTS
Our Carer Support Lead Julie will be attending The Slipper Swap and Information Day at the Acorn Centre, 8-9 Regent Street, Great Yarmouth. Launching Thursday 1st December 2016 10 – 2pm. It is a free event where Information *stalls and support, Hot refreshments and *soup, *Great Yarmouth Police Surgery and Fire Safety Support will be available.
Bring along an old pair of slippers and get a new pair for free!

We have a number of Carers Week activities planned in for the 6th – 12th June. We have some final details to confirm but watch this space for more information about our activities!
New Carers Drop-In
There is a new Carers drop-in starting up on the second Monday of the month at the Shrublands Youth and Adult Centre, from 11am-1pm.
Norwich Community Hospital Drop-In
One of our Support Workers will be holding a drop-in for Carers at the Norwich Community Hospital every Wednesday from 2pm – 5pm.
Carers Information Event
Norfolk Carers Support will be attending the Carers Information Event at Connaught Hall on the 7th October to provide support and information to Carers in their communities.
Long Stratton Library Drop-In
Stacy will be available for drop-in sessions with Carers from 2pm-4pm on Monday 7th September at the Long Stratton Library.
Poringland Library Drop-In
One of our Support Workers, Stacy, will be at the Poringland Library from 9am-11am on Monday 7th September and Monday 5th October.
Carers Week was 8th – 14th June this year. The CAP Locality Leads toured Norfolk, visiting Holt, Fakenham, Watton, Attleborough, North Walsham, Stalham, Loddon and Long Stratton, raising awareness of carers and seeking to support carers in their community. There were also many other events that took place throughout the week:
Strawberry Cream Tea
On 10th June, some of our adult carers attended a strawberry cream tea, enjoying good food and company to celebrate National Carers Week.
Free Funday for Over 50s
On Friday 29th May, 10am – 3pm) there is a free funday for over 50s at the King’s Centre, South Town, to include skittles, board games, table tennis and much more! Please see the poster below for more details.
Dementia Friendly Day in Diss
This was an event giving information, advice, guidance and support for those wanting to know more about dementia on Tuesday 19th May, 9:30am-3:30pm. The event was held at the Diss Youth and Community Centre, Shelfanger Road, Diss. IP22 4EH.
At Lowestoft Community Church there was a healthy roadshow on 12th May, 6:30pm-9:30pm.
Our Support Workers provided support and information at an event at Great Yarmouth library on Thursday 7th May, 10am-3pm.
At City Academy (Bluebell Road, Norwich) we joined with voluntary organisations (and others) to provide a forum for those caring for people with mental illness. The event took place between 10am and 5pm on 31st October 2014.
There were talks from psychiatrists and service users, which covered a range of issues affecting mental illness and those caring for them. There was the chance to find support, ask questions and explore the services available from different local charities.
